- Not to be confused with Taren Tactical, But Titanium Tactical Industries (TTI) have launched their first offering to airsoft with their extraordinary Gas Blowback TP22 pistol. To most of us, at first glance the pistol looks like a bit of an interestingly weird cross between the Beretta M92, The S&W M&P, H&K USP, Glock and even a bit of Walther P99. If realism is your thing though, this is actually based on an actual firearm, the Taurus TX22 competition pistol, a red dot ready sporting pistol chambered in .22LR. TTI have followed in the footsteps of the original pistol’s design purpose, focussing on performance and practicality. It is easily one of the fastest cycling gas blowback pistols currently on the market. Incredibly crisp and snappy trigger response. It feels almost like no gas is wasted in its operation. This is part down to the large cut out on the slide making it lighter. It is cut out to make space for the RMR optics mounting plate. The optic mount is fixed to the barrel and not the slide, meaning when fired, the sight picture doesn’t move, keeping your sights on target for more accurate follow up shots. Below the optic mounting plate is the hop up adjustment wheel. That’s right, no need to remove the slide and disassemble and reassemble to adjust your hop and the trajectory of the bb, it can be done on the fly with this tactile and innovative solution, and is sturdy so you need not worry about it “readjusting itself” in game. Other features include a metal slide and barrel assembly, a tough nylon fibre polymer frame, Ambidextrous slide release, the “gucci” fibre optics iron sights, 14mm counter clockwise outer barrel threads for a suppressor or tracer unit, picatinny railed frame for lights or lasers, and the fun switch on the left hand side of the slide. That’s right, unlike the real Taurus TX22, the TP22 has a Glock 18c style fire selector to switch from a precision shooting snappy and accurate side piece to a rapid shooting purring beast, that would give the AAP series some serious competition. The rate of fire is just silly! It is extremely fun to shoot. To top it all off, the TP22 runs on Glock style magazines with both Tokyo Marui and Umarex (VFC) G17 and extended mags and other compatible brands and derivatives of, making sourcing spares nice and easy.
